Cyna is a Butterfly

Our business name, Cyña Unlimited (pronounced sin'-ya) was  a word I came up with using letters from the names, Donna (mine) and Cynthia, my business partner's late wife, whose Native American dreamcatchers and Mexican Indian-inspired creations provided the models for much of my early work.

Cyna had been in business for several years before we inadvertently discovered that the word "cyna" was also the common name of a particular species of butterfly indigenous to Mexico. This was an amazingly "coincidental" thing since not only was Cyndi's heritage of Hispanic origin, something that would be of significance for many reasons throughout her life, but also because the butterfly is a universal symbol for metamorphosis or "radical change". Particularly associated with the journey of Spirit's as it ascends beyond the confines of the physical plane to return, once again, to its Source.  Personal experiences have convinced me that our spirits do indeed live on and I feel relatively certain that this was Cyndi's unique way of giving her blessing to this business endeavor her energy helped to set in motion.

Maya Angelou was interviewed on the Oprah Winfrey show on her 70+ birthday. When Oprah asked what her thoughts were on growing older, she said it was "exciting"; especially the many physical changes that, to her, seemed to occur on a daily basis, as with her breasts. She remarked, "they seem to be in a race to see which will reach my waist first."  The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman who carries much wisdom in her words! more...
